Before we got to Krabi we had to check out of our hotel in Koh Samui, which was sad because we had become friends with the two receptionists. Both were lovely and really happy and smiley guys actually, like really smiley! Whether that was because they didn't understand I'm not sure ha! We then headed for breakfast, which consisted of walking 15 minutes up to the road to find that the place we were planning to go was shut!! Nothing opens until 10/11 on Koh Samui! This was half 9 and nothing was open at all! So we went back to a reliable spot where we'd eaten before.
We had a whistle stop visit of mainland city Krabi, staying at a lovely hostel for 2 nights. But before this we had to get there. And it was the cutest way possible, on a tiny little plane.
Our flight was at 12.20pm from Samui Airport which I have to say was the most scenic, tiny and not like any airport that I've ever been too.
After checking in, we went to our gate but we were FORCED to delay our journey due to a shop PULLING us in, and we had an ice cream sundae!!
It was so yummy, I got chocolate crunch and Nat got strawberry, cream and banana. Best duty free ever! Also on arrival, they have us an ice cold glass of water, very refreshing in this heat!
We had a really short walk to the gate, and when we got there was shocked at how lovely and stress free it looked! Normally airports are quite stressful but this was very much the opposite.
So we got on a little shuttle bus which took us on a short journey over to the plane. It was a 70 seat plane and could literally touch both sides of the plane if you really tried! The take off, flight and landing were all really smooth and it only took 40 minutes to get over to Krabi.
After catching a shuttle bus and a short walk, we made it to the hostel. A lovely 10 bed dorm which was so light and had a lovely atmosphere to it. A lot of lovely people and more friends were made
When we got to Krabi, with it only being a short visit, we had to sort a tour for the following day. In Thailand this isn't a problem and if anything they prefer this short notice. We booked a James Bond Island Tour with a travel agent who was so lovely. We were laughing though due to when we arrived she was having her hair done so we said, relax, we'll wait haha
We got a good price for the tour and she also suggested visiting the night markets close by. All three of them!
We had to find a way on the map and the wind really wasn't cooperating with us at all!!
One was the largest by far but all were very nice in their own way. Here are a few pictures of the three markets
At the largest market we got a fried paprika potato which was delicious! We also got fried, yes fried ice cream! Was very hard to get head around but very tasty too!
-Tour day-
The main focus of the tour was to visit James Bond Island and it was lovely however the tide was (extremely) in so there was hardly 5 meters of actual beach and with the cloudy weather it wasn't as much of paradise as what we'd thought it'd be. Lovely though!
On the journey there I made a friend, called Rufus!
Another stop of the tour was Monkey Cave, which contained marvellous Buddha statues and also hundreds of monkeysssss!!!! They were free so it made it ten times better, knowing they could do what they wanted and if anything were in charge! The guide said for us not to take our bags due to the monkeys thinking they were food and having a grab at them! This took him up on his advice!
We both made great friends with the monkeys and I actually was passing, literally handing over food to the monkeys. Like my hand over to the monkeys hand, they took it so nicely!!
Here are a lot of cute monkeys which I'm sure you'll love! One actually got right under my feet and was holding onto my sandals
The cute baby ones were really approachable but you had to be aware and really careful of the really ones-that-look-like-the-boss monkeys. There were a couple of scraps with the big males but obviously this was sorting out the hierarchy.
We then caught the longtime back to a Floating Village which is where we are lunch. It was buffet style on the tables and was very nice.
The final stop was a waterfall, actually 7 waterfalls all joined together along one flow of running water. It was really nice and I had a little dip and felt fish having a nibble at my legs. I later found a bite which was different to a mosquito one, but after monitoring has now totally gone!
He also pointed out a snake and a spider!
The tour was fantastic, really good fun and a full days enjoyment! The company was brilliant and Rudy the tour guide was really fun and informative.
That night we sorted our bags for leaving the following day. We had booked our return ferry to Koh Phi Phi with the same lady for a fair price so that was all sorted.
The pick up was at 12pm so we nipped for breakfast at a local restaurant and got ready to head off to our next destination, Koh Phi Phi!!!
Little bit to wet your appetite, the next blog post contains fire hoops, fire limbo and fire skipping ropes. To know whether we did them, will be revealed in the next post! Haha hint!
See you then
